Non-Surgical After Care
Following any facial aesthetic treatment, patients can relax in our lounge where they will be given a soft drink.
Immediately after treatment, you are able to return to normal activity the same day.
The following aftercare advice should be followed; however we are always available if you are concerned in any way and to answer any queries you may have.
Following the majority of treatments, we provide comprehensive aftercare advice sheets. Post operative advice is always given at every appointment. If there is anything you would like further advice on please do not hesitate to contact our friendly dental team. We encourage our patients to call us for advice on any problems whatsoever.
Dermal Fillers AFTERCARE
You must be careful to avoid extreme sunlight and heat and you may be advised to use an ice pack to reduce any swelling or tenderness at the injection site. The discomfort associated with Restylane® treatment should subside within hours or days of the procedure. If it continues past this point, you should notify us.
Patients should avoid over exposure to heat and sunlight, as they might increase swelling and bruising at the injection site. Also, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing and other laser skin enhancements should be avoided as there is a chance that they may cause inflammation.
Post-treatment pain should be minimal. A common complaint among those who have undergone dermal filler treatment is swelling, though this should subside in the first few days after the injection. Healing time varies from person to person, however, so some may experience redness and swelling slightly longer than others.
You are advised against flexing your facial muscles in the area of treatment. Stretching your muscles can disturb the Restylane® gel. For the first 24 hours after treatment, it is best to avoid sudden movements in the enhanced area. For example, a patient who has undergone a dermal filler treatment for lip augmentation may be advised against excessive laughing, as this will stretch the surrounding muscles.
MAINTAINING Results of Dermal Fillers
Touch ups may be needed after six months in areas that are more prone to movement, such as the lips. Dermal filler injections last, on average, about 6-9 months. After this time, you may choose to undergo another dermal filler treatment, and since each subsequent treatment tends to last longer than the previous one, your results can be easily maintained.
If you don’t choose to have additional dermal filler injections, the hyaluronic acid will absorb naturally into your skin after time.
BOTULINUM TOXIN (Type A) TREATMENT AFTERCARE
Try to exercise your treated muscles for the 1st hour after your Botox treatment (e.g facial gestures like frowning, raising your eyebrows and squinting).
Do not have a facial, nor rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours after your treatment.
Do not lie down or do strenuous exercise for 3 hours after treatment. Also, avoid any exposure to a sauna, hot tub or tanning for 4 hours.
Please be aware that some patients experience a mild headache after the Botox treatment. If you suffer from headaches after botox treatment, you can take Paracetamol as required.
Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Nurofen or other anti-inflammatories as this may increase bruising.
Any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours after your Botox treatment. There is a small risk of bruising. If this does occur, it will only be temporary and can easily be covered with makeup.
Botox takes 3 to 5 days to begin to work. The botox treatment can take up to 2 weeks to reach the completed results.
MAINTAINING BOTULINUM TOXIN (Type A) TREATMENT RESULTS
Anti-wrinkle injections are a temporary procedure and, at first, you may find that your treatment results will last approximately 3 or 4 months.
If you maintain your treatment appointments with the frequency recommended, the duration of each treatment result may last longer than 4 months.
