A crown is a special cap used by dentists to address a crack, breakage, or significant wear of a tooth, by providing support they can prevent a damaged tooth from breaking further. Dental crowns can also improve the appearance of discoloured or misshapen teeth.

Your dentist can determine your need for a crown and recommend a material to suit your requirements and cosmetic preferences.

Dental crowns can be ceramic, metallic or a combination of both. We colour-match these custom-manufactured caps to the shade of your existing teeth to provide a natural and cosmetically pleasing look.

Constructing a crown consists of two appointments the first, will be to prepare and reshape the contours of your tooth and take some impressions which will be sent away to our dental lab. The second appointment, will fix the crown to the tooth remnant to restore it to its optimal functionality.

At times dental crowns are also used to support a bridge by strengthening the natural teeth at either end of the gap which may have previously been damaged, worn or restored.
