At Slade Dental Practice & Implant Centre; we offer inlays and onlays as a means of long-lasting repairative treatment, primarily for larger back teeth. These fittings can restore functionality to a tooth with moderate damage or decay.
The treatment is appropriate for a tooth that cannot support a filling but does not yet justify a crown.
An inlay is small and cemented into place within the corners or biting surface of the tooth. An onlay covers a larger area and extends over the cusps of the tooth for additional protection and restoration.
Inlays and onlays come in gold, porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain fittings are a popular choice among patients, as they tend to be more hard-wearing and match the colour of your existing teeth. They restore both the tooth’s appearance and function while strengthening the overall structure.
